What is the DVV?

The Digital Skills Questionnaire (DVV) provides a clear and accessible picture of how someone deals with digital resources, such as computer, smartphone and internet. The questionnaire shows what someone is already good at and where there is still room for development.

What can the DVV be used for?

• Before screening
Provides quick insight into the level of digital skills and shows in which areas extra support or practice can be helpful.

• For self-insight
The participant gets a clear picture of their own digital skills and recognizes strengths and areas for development.

• As a starting point for guidance
The results offer a concrete starting point for a conversation, training or guidance process.

Applications

The DVV is suitable for use:
• In processes around digital inclusion and basic skills
• Within education, municipalities and reintegration
• As part of intake, progress or evaluation interviews
• In combination with training, coaching or exercise programs

What does the DVV measure?

The DVV measures various components of digital skills that are important for participation in daily life and at work:

• Use of programs and digital devices
Handle files, adjust settings, and install apps or programs on your computer, tablet, or smartphone.

• Use of the internet
Searching for information, filling in forms, working with Wi-Fi and dealing with online applications such as websites and AI chatbots.

• Communicating with digital devices
Emailing, texting, sharing information and dealing with social media.

• Create or modify digital things
Create or edit simple digital products, such as documents, photos, or other digital files.

• Working safely digitally
Consciously dealing with privacy, passwords, spam, phishing and recognizing unsafe situations online.

• Troubleshooting digital devices
Dealing with malfunctions or questions, being able to call in help and trying to keep up with new digital developments.

The questionnaire consists of 43 questions and takes an average of 10 minutes to complete.

Reporting

After completing the questionnaire, the participant receives a personal report with:
• Clear scores per component (in words and graphically)
• A clear explanation in understandable language
• Positive and practical tips to further develop digital skills
• Tools for next steps or support.

The report is suitable to discuss with a supervisor, teacher or coach.

Scientific basis

The DVV was developed from insights from research into digital inclusion, self-efficacy and adult learning. It is known that trust, overview and positive feedback are important in developing digital skills. The questionnaire is structured in such a way that it motivates and lowers barriers.

Practical information

The DVV is available via the NOA Talent Portal, NOA's online assessment environment. In addition to the DVV, NOA also provides other tests and questionnaires.
