Tailor-made talent scan for special care
The Ipse de Bruggen institution offers care to people with intellectual disabilities.
Nationally, the number of clients with persistent and risky difficult-to-understand behaviour (MVG+) is growing. Ipse de Bruggen is one of the organizations that can offer these clients the High Intensive Guidance and Treatment (HIBB) they need.
High demands are placed on the supervisors of these groups. Competencies for these employees are looked at differently than the other target groups within the organizations. That is why NOA has developed its own talent scan for these employees of Ipse de Bruggen.
"We were already working with NOA selection assessments when recruiting and supervising our students, but we wanted a very specific tool for the people who work with this special group of clients. That is why, together with NOA, we made a selection of the ten competencies that we consider important within this field of work," says Jacqueline van der Maas, HRM advisor at Ipse de Bruggen. "These clients have a cognitively low level and they often show aggressive behavior. We therefore offer them guidance 24 hours a day and you have to be able to do that. It is mentally and physically demanding work."
"We now use the scan as a starting point for the annual interviews with our current employees. By discussing the results of the scan with them, we can go into depth more easily than before. For example, we would like to hear whether our employees recognize themselves in their outcome. Or where they don't. But above all, we want to discuss with them what they need to become better at the competencies on which they score less well."
"If we want our employees to be able to provide 24/7 care, treatment and guidance to this special HIBB group, we also have a duty to help them develop further. This talent scan helps us enormously with that. In addition, we certainly want to use the scan even more in the future when recruiting new staff and lateral entrants."
