Taking initiative
The competency of taking initiative says something about the extent to which you take action on your own without having to be encouraged by others. An example of a question that belongs to this competence is: "I do things without having to be told".
Development tips

- Find out what prevents you from taking initiatives and what would encourage you to take more initiatives.
- Keep track of the initiatives you have taken each week. Try to increase this 'score'.
- Set concrete goals that are sufficiently challenging and achievable.
- Don't wait, but look for opportunities and possibilities yourself.
- Contribute credit to workgroups or study groups.
- Work with someone who is good at taking initiative. See what you can learn from this.
