Stress resistance
The Stress Resistance competency measures whether you can deal with (time) pressure and tension and whether you continue to function effectively under these circumstances. An example of a question that belongs to this competency is: "Even when things go wrong, I continue to perform well".
Development tips
- Avoid stress by planning and organizing your study activities well. Set priorities and create timetables. Overview gives peace of mind.
- Start assignments as much as possible according to your timetable. Postponement of an assignment causes unrest and makes it increasingly difficult to finish.
- Prepare study groups, working groups, and presentations thoroughly.
- Be realistic in what you can handle. Think about activities besides your studies and how much time they take. Dare to say no.
- Write down the situations in which you experience stress. Try to discover if there are any similarities. This allows you to find out what causes the stress. Discuss with fellow students or lecturers what you can do about this.
- Find out which beliefs and thoughts evoke stress in you. Remember that good is often good enough.
- Plan moments of relaxation.
- Learn relaxation exercises that you can also apply while studying.
