The competencies Sensitivity says something about the extent to which you notice and respond to important needs of others. An example of a question that fits this competence is: "I empathize with the feelings of others".

Development tips

  • Try to listen patiently and not react immediately when someone tells you something.
  • Let your conversation partner finish, ask questions and summarize what has been said.
  • Think about how you would like to be treated and take this into account in the way you respond to others.
  • Think about the effect of your own behavior on others.
  • Be alert and respond to non-verbal signals: Does your conversation partner find your story interesting? Does he/she understand your story?
  • Don't get distracted, and listen carefully while someone else in the study group is speaking.
  • Pay attention to both the substantive topics and the way in which communication with the person you are talking to goes.
  • Consider the personal circumstances of others. Show your understanding by expressing the other person's feelings.
