Planning and organizing

The Planning and Organizing competency indicates whether you oversee and organize activities, and whether you set goals and priorities in this regard. An example of this competency is: "I meet deadlines by working in a structured and systematic way".

Development tips

  • Estimate the time and resources needed to complete a study assignment.
  • Write down deadlines and indicate in a timetable who in the study group will perform which task.
  • In the meantime, check with your group members whether the progress of the study assignment is in line with the planning.
  • At the beginning of the day, go through what you want to do. List all activities and set priorities.
  • Cross off an event (in your calendar) as soon as you have done it. Put what hasn't been done on the list for the next day.
  • Schedule set times to check your email. Also note the activities that have already been determined, such as lectures, tutorials, exam periods.
  • Keep room in your schedule for unexpected things.
  • Help organize an activity at your study program or school. Make sure you are given the responsibility for making the planning.
