Delegate

The competency Delegating describes the ability to transfer tasks and/or responsibilities. An example of a question that belongs to this competency is: "I can let go of tasks well when I have transferred them".

Development tips

  • Think about which tasks of a group assignment you don't have to do yourself and transfer these tasks.
  • Ask fellow students what they see as their strengths. In this way, tasks can be distributed as appropriately as possible.
  • Transfer tasks that are appropriate to the level and circumstances of the student in question.
  • Take enough time to carefully explain the task to someone. Make sure the fellow student knows what to do.
  • Make agreements about the time and the way in which results should be fed back.
  • Be clear about who is responsible for what.
  • Have faith in the abilities of the person to whom you are handing something over. Give him/her as much space as possible to fill in his/her 'new' tasks himself/herself.
  • Remain the point of contact for problems in the execution of tasks you have delegated.
