Study Progress Meter Quickscan

NOA has two composite instruments available for the intake and guidance of MBO students: the MBO Start Meter and the MBO Study Progress Meter. These instruments can be purchased in combination or separately. Recently, the Study Progress Meter Quickscan was developed that is suitable for MBO students level 1 and 2. Also, it is suitable for level 3 and 4 students who want to make a shorter version. Indra Newton, developer at NOA, has been working on this recently. "This modified version does more justice to the students of level 1 and 2, which is great!"

Both the Study Progress Meter and the Quickscan version track the progress and well-being of students during the programme, which means that problems are identified at an early stage. With appropriate support, students can be prevented from dropping out prematurely. It can also be a valuable input when giving a binding study advice. Indra: "That is why it is essential that this instrument fits well with the target group."

"It was a very fun project to do," says Indra. NOA has included feedback from teachers and mentors in MBO in the development of this version. They noticed that the standard version was not always suitable for students of level 1 and 2. "I started with interviews with teachers and mentors and the first thing they said is that the questionnaire is too long. The language can also be simpler and preferably more visual material". Based on the information from the interviews, NOA has developed the Study Progress Meter Quickscan. The most important changes are: the questionnaire is shorter, the language has been made simpler, more use is made of visual material such as instructional videos, there are no open (reflection) questions.

The original extended version has also been updated. A number of developments for the Quickscan have also been implemented in the extended version. A big advantage of both versions is that the Study Progress Meter can be made on the phone.

Just like the original version, the Study Progress Meter Quickscan maps characteristics that are important for successful study: motivation, competences, well-being, study skills and support needs.

Here are the main features of the two versions:
