NOA in the picture - October 2026
Farewell speech Marise Born
Prof. Marise Born, chair of the board of the NOA Foundation, delivered her farewell speech 'Natural selection' at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences on Friday 25 September 2026. Marise held the chair of Personnel Psychology there.

With regard to AI and the selection interview, she stated in her speech, among other things:
"The influential meta-analysis by Sacket and colleagues (2022, 2023) shows that the structured interview is the most valid predictor of future work behaviour. In the future, avatar-based interviewers may be able to play a major role, for example by generating questions, conducting interviews, scoring applicants and recommending applicants for a position based on these scores. Nevertheless, the personal interaction between applicants and future colleagues, managers and employers will remain indispensable in the selection process."
The professional assessment psychologist remains, as is also apparent from her farewell speech, indispensable. In addition to the recognition for all her scientific dedication to her field, Marise was also honored for her important commitment and contribution to increasing the number of female professors at Erasmus University, which she has been advocating for for many years.
